A music editorial covering music education, music reviews, and the evolving landscape of music — as we see it, hear it, and consume it. A publication of I See You Family Media.
The Publication
Cut Times is a music editorial and journal covering the evolving landscape of music, music education, and the cultural forces shaping both. Through editorials, reviews, research papers, teaching journals, and curriculum resources, Cut Times documents what music looks like from the inside — not from press releases and press rows, but from classrooms, stages, and the daily work of people who live inside music as a profession.
Named for the cut time signature — alla breve — which instructs you to move faster and cut to what matters. That is the standard every piece published here is held to.
Cut Times publishes across five areas: The Journey — personal journals and teaching narratives; Good Music — music reviews and album responses; Editorials — opinion, analysis, and critical takes on the field; Music Today — the modern music industry, technology, and culture; and Education — music education research, standards, and practice. Every paper is numbered, archived, and available as a downloadable PDF.
Cut Times is a publication of I See You Family Media. All editorial writing is by Daniel James Felton, Senior Writer — a music educator, composer, and musician with a decade of experience building music programs across international and domestic schools. The goal is a permanent, indexed record of music and music education as they are actually lived.
